Today I tested a way to get a notification from anywhere in the world if someone enters my home. I can also get a status from my home automation systems (Both Alexa and Google Assistant) as to whether my door is actually open or closed.
Well, to do this you will need a Samsung Smart things hub, a multipurpose sensor, and a configuration between your Samsung Hub and your home automation system (either Alexa or Google Assistant). The configuration is simply a bridge that allows your Samsung device to talk to your other devices. In my case I want Alexa to know the status of my home. In reality the sensor only detects open or closed as a state. I know that a message of open, means my door is open and a message of closed means my door is closed.
So, I really want either Alexa or Google to get the relay of whether the sensor is open or closed.Once you know if the sensor is opened or closed you can establish tons of automation triggers for security. Some trigger examples include starting your camera, sending you a text message, or even audibly saying something on your smart speakers. Here is an example of my door opening and a security trigger. Notice what happens on my phone a few seconds after the door is opened.
